My last picture with him

This could be one of the most special pictures that I have, but the story of this photography is a little sad.
My family: my grandmother, my grandfather,
my aunt, my two cousins, my mother and I.
All began in August 3rd, 2003 when my mom and I were ready to go on an adventure to the United States. This picture was taken by my neighbor the day we were leaving, after a nice family lunch. At that moment, I couldn't imagine that this would be the last time I could see my grandfather.
After three months living in New Jersey, at 5.00 a.m. on Sunday 26th of October, we received the most horrible and tragic news I've ever got in my life, my grandfather died because of a heart attack. That was totally unexpected, because my grandpa was so healthy, he had even gone to the cardiologist early that week, who said everything was fine with his heart and blood pressure. Unfortunately, destiny changed the story. All of a sudden, he died.
Nowadays, I still miss him like the first time, but I know he is my guardian angel, who takes care of me wherever I go.

Luna, my lovely pet

My pet is called Luna. I found her a few years ago, in January 2011, in the square of my town. She was a little puppy, dirty and scared. I guess some unconscious person abandoned her and her brothers.
I immediately felt in love with that small and cute female dog!

Luna is not one of those expensive dogs, she is a mixed dog, but a very beautiful and special one. She has a brown and curly fur, surprisingly like mine. When I found her, I already had two dogs at home (I'm a dog lover) but they loved her too.

Nowadays, she is the queen of the house, maybe too spoiled although is a dog. She is sterilized, not only for not having more dogs, but mainly to raise awareness of responsible pet ownership. Finally, I want to say that I can not imagine my life without her.

The silver part of my life

My favourite piece of technology is my Macbook, I really love it!
From the first moment I have got my Mac, my life changed. I use it every single day, almost 16 or 18 hours during weekdays for working, studying, doing research and get connected with family and friends. On weekends, my Mac becomes my best mate, when using the social network, or watching a good film.
I can not think of my life without this silver piece of technology, especially because of my career, everything would be more complicated and slower to do.
The biggest advantage of this laptop is that, it is very comfortable to carry on everywhere.
Unfortunately, its price is not easily affordable.
In my case, I had to wait until I got into the university to finally count on a Mac, but I believe it is worthy enough to have spent that money!

Why Journalism?

When I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer, because I enjoyed making clothes for my dolls. I thought that I only needed to know how to cut, and sew. Later in time, and after  my PSU results, I thought of Journalism, and Social Work, although I wasn’t totally convinced of any of them. Furthermore, I considered the professional development and the possibilities for working.

Finally, I decided to study my current career, because in my opinion, has more chances and areas to work. So far, I’m doing my best to be successful in life, and even though I still don’t know which kind of job would fulfil my expectations, I try hard to learn and enjoy.

Autobiography

My name is Antonia Olguín, I'm 18 years old and I come from San Felipe, located in the Aconcagua Valley.
I was born on May 19, 1997 on a very rainy day.
I graduated from "IAC High School" in San Felipe, where I studied since 7th grade, and in my previous school years I attended the "Colegio Portaliano" in the same city.
I am the only child, and live with my mother and grandmother, in a town near by, called Santa María. We have three dogs at home, as we all love pets.
It's because of this, that in my free time, I enjoy helping as a volunteer in Guauhaus, and Garras y Patas.
I enjoy reading, listening to music, sharing with my family and friends, and cooking. I also love travelling, and visiting new places.
I decided to study journalism, because I care about what is going on worldwide, I am good at writing and searching for information, and I'm learning how to become a good communicator.
